Wood finishing
is the process of embellishing and/or protecting the surface of a wooden
material
STEP 1: CHOOSE YOUR DOOR
First you have to choose the style door that you want.
The door will come in what’s known as “Raw Form”
STEP 2: SANDING
The
process starts with surface preparation, either by sanding by hand (typically
using a sanding block or power sander), scraping, or planing. Imperfections or
nail holes on the surface may be filled using wood putty or pores may be filled
using wood filler.
STEP 3: TIME TO ADD COLOR
After the door is sanded we apply an oil based stain to the
door. The next layer will be a clear coat or sealer. After this is applied then
we will go and sand down any rough spots.
STEP 4: DETAILS
After
we sand down all the rough spots 2 coats of toner will be added and then we can
add glaze if customer wants more color in the doors. In this process we use a
gel glaze and follow all of the edges of the door.
STEP 5: FINAL TOUCH
After all the details you want are added then it’s time to
add the final clear coat to seal it all in.
